Geography had a major affect on the life of ancient Greeks.
- Since Greece was a mountainous land and had a mountain range running down the middle many of the cites were separated and the cultures were isolated, so they did not interact as much as other neighboring cultures would have.
- The separation of cities cause the different people of ancient Greece to be very different, have different cultures, and different government systems. This caused much conflict and war whenever different peoples met.
- The mountains also made it difficult for people to farm, so the Ancient Greeks traded and developed colonies in areas that produced more food.
- Because Greece is a peninsula, which means it is mostly surrounded by water, the greeks became excellent sailors, and they also ate a lot of sea food.
